About me – technical editor
Qualifications
My qualifications include accreditation as a technical editor with the Australian Institute of Professional Editors, the World Health Organization and the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS and certification by the Board of Editors in the Life Sciences (BELS) in the United States.
I keep my skills up-to-date through:
- membership of professional organisations:
- following online discussions of editing issues (e.g. through the CIEP forums) and membership of relevant groups in LinkedIn
- attending face-to-face and online meetings and workshops run by AMWA, IPEd, CIEP and other relevant organisations.
Ethos
I attempt to reduce my environmental footprint by reducing, reusing and recycling; for example, I turn off computers and other equipment when not in use, and all my food waste goes either to the chickens, the worm farm or the compost heap. I also support various organisations financially or by offering free editing services (e.g. to AuthorAid).
