This week I picked up yet another book – The copyeditor’s handbook: A guide to book publishing and corporate communications. So far I’ve only read the preface and a few pages of the first chapter (What copyeditors do), and I’ve already found some useful ideas for the copyediting checklist I’ve been working on.
I also found out how to access the On-demand training from copyeditor.com (which I paid for a while ago, but hadn’t got round to using). The courses are expensive if you listen to them live or buy them on CD, but I’ve signed up to an annual subscription that allows me to listen to all the previous sessions for less than the price of a single live session. This week, I listened to an audio session titled Common problems in medical editing, and learnt several things that I probably should have known, but didn’t.
